Top 5 Supporting Acts From Maroon 5 Tours

Neon Trees, Phantom Planet, Train or MAGIC! Who's #1?

Over the past decade, Maroon 5 have brought out some rather incredible bands and solo artists on tour with them as supporting acts. The Los Angeles based pop rock group have been on tour in support of their latest studio effort, V (which was recently re-released as a reissue in support of "This Summer's Gonna Hurt"), for over the past year visiting the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, France, England, Morocco, Lisbon, Milan, and are about to embark on the Asian leg of their worldwide tour this September and October.

Everybody from Train to Conrad Sewell, I am counting down the top 5 best supporting acts from previous (and future) Maroon 5 tours.

5. Phantom Planet

So let us rewind way back to the Spring of 2005, where power pop rockers Phantom Planet opened up for Maroon 5 on the 6th Annual North American Honda Civic Tour. Fortunately, this tour paved way for Phantom Planet's bassist Sam Farrar to join Maroon 5 as a touring member since 2012. However, unfortunately this lead to Phantom's hiatus that same year. Sharing the same bill as The Thrills and The Donnas, Phantom Planet's shows were incredibly entertaining and their live act fit perfectly in comparison to Maroon 5's alt-rock live sound on that tour.

4. Train

Not everybody likes this roots rock band, but at the time, born-and-raised San Franciscan rockers Train were ideally quintessential to Maroon 5's 2010 North American Hands All Over Tour. Train shared the supporting act bill alongside pop rock singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw and on other legs One Republic.

3. Neon Trees

Wow. These spicy dance-punk rockers were definitely what Maroon 5 needed on their 2013 Overexposed Tour. Serving as supporting acts alongside Owl City, Neon Trees gave a very short-studded, yet very energetic performance playing hits like "Animal" and "Everybody Talks" that got the crowd pretty rowdy for Maroon 5's lengthy 2 hour set following.

2. Conrad Sewell

Conrad Sewell is a new artist and deserves to be featured on this countdown. He is someone who I am very much a fan of and is one of the best up and coming Australian pop acts at the moment. Over the last several years, he's written for Train, Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone, Lady Gaga, Icona Pop, and One Direction. He has toured on the Australian leg of Ed Sheeran's worldwide in 2014 and is set to open for Maroon 5 this September in Australia. I highly recommend listening to his newer two singles "Hold Me Up" (a synth-charged pop rock anthem) and "Start Again" (a powerful piano and symphonic rock-inspired ballad).

1. One Republic

One of today's hottest pop rock bands One Republic takes the Number 1 spot on the Top 5 Supporting Acts From Maroon 5 Tours list simply because they are. Bad. Ass. Live. This band had a similar start like Maroon 5 in dealing with record label struggles, recording over 100 songs to finally release a perfect debut album, and have been nominated 8 Teen Choice Awards, 3 People's Choice Awards, and 2 Grammy Awards. Frontman Ryan Tedder has co-produced many of Maroon 5's recent material such as "New Love", "Love Somebody", "Maps", and more. They were rumored to tour with Maroon 5 last year, however no confirmation was ever made. We hope to see One Republic tour with Maroon 5 and share their excellent polished-pop rock sound together again.

Phases Will Be Opening For Maroon 5 in Las Vegas

James Valentine's ex-band PHASES will be supporting Maroon 5 on Dec. 30 & 31

Yesterday (Wed, Aug. 19), it was confirmed on Twitter that the indie-pop-rock supergroup PHASES will be serving as a supporting act at Maroon 5's New Years Eve concerts in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on December 30th and 31st.

Following maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine's departure from JJAMZ in 2014, the supergroup changed their name to PHASES, departed from Dangerbird Records, and signed with Warner Bros. Records. Following the release of their single "I'm In Love With My Life", wihch peaked at No. 35 on the Alternative Songs chart, the band is recording new music later this year and is expected to drop a sophomore effort in 2016.

Good news? Maroon 5 blew up Atlantic City Beach with a live concert with Nick Jonas

Tonight (Sun, Aug. 16), the 2015 Teen Choice Awards aired live on FOX Network and pop rock outfit Maroon 5 were nominated twice at this year's award ceremony. But did they take home any surfboards?

Maroon 5 failed to take home the fan-voted centric awards for Choice Male Group and Choice Song by a Group (for "Sugar"), but they did win something tonight.

The Los Angeles group took over Atlantic City Beach in Atlantic City, New Jersey tonight with special guests Nick Jonas and Matthew McAndrew. The show featured a newly bald Adam Levine and followed up last night's live concert at Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Maroon 5 will celebrate the one year anniversary of their platinum-selling No. 1 album V by kicking off the sixth leg of their World Tour in Asia starting on September 2 at Yokohama Arena in Tokyo, Japan. The 11-date Asia leg of the tour will conclude on September 22 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The Asian tour will be supported by Swedish pop rock group Dirty Loops.

The band will also be performing 3 dates in Australia in late September and 3 more in New Zealand in early October with Dirty Loops continuing as supporting acts.

Reminder: The MTV Video Music Awards are set to air live at 8:00/7:00P.M. CPT on Sunday, August 30th on MTV. Maroon 5 is nominated for Best Pop Video for "Sugar."

Maroon 5's Fifth Album Has Been Certified Platinum

Maroon 5 now has 5 platinum-selling studio albums under it's belt

Earlier today (Friday, Aug. 7th), it was confirmed by Billboard and Nielsen SoundScan that Maroon 5's fifth studio release, titled V, has surpassed over one-million sales in the United States.

V becomes the Los Angeles pop rock group's fifth platinum-selling album in their entire career. The album was released on September 2 of last year and has spawned 4 top 40 hit singles including the number-one Mainstream Pop Songs hits "Animals" and "Sugar." V was re-released earlier this year in May in support of the band's latest single, "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf***er", which helped boost sales for the album worldwide. V currently sits at No. 18 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has yet to break the top 30 on the chart since it's initial release last September. It follows-up the band's previous studio album, Overexposed which peaked at one-million in sales in 2014.

Upon the news of V breaking over one-million in sales, the band announced that "Feelings" – a disco-driven dance-pop tune produced by Shellback and Oscar Görres – would serve as the album's fifth and possibly final single from the album. "Feelings" is set to impact contemporary radio stations early next month in celebration of the album's one year anniversary.
