Maroon 5's 'Daylight' Meets New Peaks on Pop Songs Chart

Maroon 5 versus the new Billboard Hot 100, "Daylight" meets new peaks, and more!

Last week, Billboard decided to change up a few things in the structure of the Billboard Hot 100 by adding new methodology for formulating views form YouTube videos and likes on music sharing sites like Spotify and Myspace. So, that might not be all cheers for pop rock band Maroon 5, but it sure does help songs the up-the-ante and cause trends such as Baauer's No. 1 Hot 100 hit "Harlem Shake." It is said that "Shake" would have never been a top selling single without the new formula in the Hot 100's mix.

Maroon 5's new single "Daylight" is however climbing up the charts, just not on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Two weeks ago, "Daylight" peaked at No. 7 on the chart after falling last week to No. 13. This week the soft rock track falls a spot from 13-14 on the Hot 100. On other chart notes, "Daylight" falls a spot 15-16 on the Digital Songs chart, moves up a position 7-6 on the Radio Songs chart, jumps 6-5 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart (meeting its new peak on the tally), climbs up 6-4 on the Adult Pop Songs chart, and slides up 8-7 on the Canadian Hot 100 singles chart. "Daylight" may be inching up one by one with each coming week, but it is sure to enter the top three on the Pop Songs chart soon enough.

The band's 2012 No. 1 hit single "One More Night" has its best sales week in over a month. The reggae pop infused track climbs up from 34-33 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. On other chart notes, "One More Night" falls 34-44 on the Digital Songs chart, descends 15-17 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, stays put at No. 3 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart, falls 57-63 on the Official U.K. Singles chart, and stays put at No. 31 on the Canadian Hot 100. No, Canada did not mix the new internet feature in to their mix on the Hot 100 (unlike the States).

Maroon 5's Grammy nominated album Overexposed, spent a week in "chart heaven" the last couple weeks after it's price was reduced to $6.99 on Amazon and iTunes Store. Music lovers got the album jumping 20-10 last week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, but this week (after the price change) the album falls 10-21 on the tally. On other chart notes, the album falls 4-16 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, and stays put at No. 20 on the U.K. Albums chart.

'Overexposed' Gets Revamped on Billboard 200, 'Daylight' Falls off Top 10

Maroon 5 enters Top 10 on Billboard 200, falls off Top 10 on Hot 100

After a long, busy post-Grammy sales week, we see that Maroon 5 got their advantages and disadvantages from the whole ordeal. The band's 2012 studio album met it's fifth week in the top 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart this week jumping 20-10 on the tally. The album gained in over 90,000 copies sold in the past week since Maroon 5 set their price at less than seven dollars on iTunes and Amazon. However, Maroon 5's No. 7 peaking single "Daylight" fell off the top 10 this week, descending 7-13 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart after spending its first week in the top ten.

On other chart notes, Maroon 5's fourth CD, Overexposed moves up 56-47 on the Canadian Albums chart, re-enter the Official U.K. Albums chart at No. 197, and climbs up ten spots from 14-4 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart.

For Maroon 5's newest single "Daylight", the single falls 7-15 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart (after also spending its first week in the top 10), jumps 9-7 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, meeting a new peak position, climbs 9-6 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, and moves up from Nos. 8-6 on the Adult Pop Songs chart this week.

The band's former 9 week No. 1 chart topping single "One More Night" continues to barrel role off of some charts. This week, "Night" falls a major 21-34 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, re-enters the Digital Songs chart at No. 34, falls a spot from 14-15 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, descends a spot from 2-3 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart, and falls 22-24 on the Adult Pop Songs chart.

Maroon 5 Launches in to Top 10 on Billboard 200

Maroon 5 heads back in to the Top 10 on Billboard 200

Not a Grammy win in sight, yet they still manage to jump in to the top ten on the albums chart this week. Maroon 5's fourth studio set Overexposed jumps 20-10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart. After a loss at the 55th annual Grammy Awards last Sunday (Feb. 10) for Best Pop Vocal Album, the band lowered their price on their new album on iTunes as part of the Best of Pop section.

This would mark Maroon 5's fifth week in the top ten of the Billboard 200 albums chart and first week in the top ten since last September. The album old over 90,000 copies in the past two weeks, marking its launch in to the top ten positions.

Adam Levine, James Valentine Talks with Mix 104.1, Talks More About Fragrance

James & Adam talk with The Mix's Karson in the Morning about the tour

After rehearsals backstage, Karson of the Mix 104.1 Hits music radio station caught up with James Valentine and frontman Adam Levine of Maroon 5 at their Manchester, New Hampshire show to talk about their sold-out concerts across the country.

After being asked what Adam wants to do next, Valentine wasn't quick to answer saying "I see him making a soft drink..." Adam than added, "It'll be called 'Jewce'... Jewish juice." "That could be huge," says James. "I like where this was going."

"Adam Levine is kind of turning in to Elvis a little bit [...] he makes music, he's on television, and now a fragrance," acquainted the radio-DJ Karson.

Adam Levine sits down with Rolling Stone to talk about fragrance

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine recently launched his own fragrance, joining a long list of pop stars with their own scents. Levine admits he initially scoffed at the idea. "I laughed when they asked me about it," he told Rolling Stone. "I got convinced to do [it] by some amazing creative people who I trust, and I want to make something that competes with real fragrances. I don't want to be another famous dude selling crap."

What changed Levine's mind was the fact that he was so dismissive of the idea. "I thought, 'If I don't like something, the perception of something, wouldn't it be more interesting to try and change it than just go along hating it as you always have?'" he said. "This opportunity fell in my lap and I thought, 'OK, I'm gonna do a very sleek, simple architectural fragrance and have it be really clean, easy, functional.'"

'Daylight' Reaches Top 10 on Hot 100

Maroon 5 meets the Top 10 on Hot 100 & Radio Songs charts with "Daylight"

Maroon 5 find themselves back in to the top 10 on the big Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this week, with their power anthem single "Daylight", moving up 14-7 on the tally. This marks the group's seventh top ten hit single on the chart in which only three have been No. 1 singles. It's been around 4-5 weeks since the band's reggae powerhouse tune "One More Night" left the chart's top 10, so it's about time for a Maroon 5 return.

But does "Daylight" have the ability to hit the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100? That's the question.

Since the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, "Daylight" has increased over 70% in audience rankings in all radio, pop, and digital formats. This week, the single climbs in to the top ten of the Hot 100 and the Radio Songs chart, which marks the band's 9th entry.

For Maroon 5's third Overexposed single "Daylight", the song stays at No. 9 on the Billboard Pop songs chart. On other chart notes, it climbs 9-8 on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart, moves up 12-9 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, slides up from 10-7 on the Digital Songs chart, and debuted at No. 78 on the Japan Hot 100 singles chart. This marks Maroon 5's eighth entry on the Japan Hot 100, the first since "One More Night" debuted on the chart in October 2012 at No. 79.

Maroon 5's previous 9 week No. 1 running hit single "One More Night" is looking a bit more pale with each passing tracking week, according to Neilson SoundScan, since it's unrelieved fall off the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. On the Hot 100, "Night" falls 17-21. On other chart notes, it moves up (surprisingly...) 4-2 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart, stays put at No. 21 on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart, descends 10-14 on the Radio Songs chart, and last, but not least, "Night" takes a tumble from 18-24 on the Billboard On-Demand Songs chart.

Maroon 5's Grammy Award-nominated fourth studio album Overexposed takes a leap from 32-20 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart. The album also entered the Official U.K. Albums chart at No. 9 from No. 24 as well. Worldwide, the album gained recognition from it's cheap price on Amazon. The album also re-enters at No. 14 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart this week.

This week, Maroon 5's Overexposed is featured on the Albums of Pop special for only $6.99 on iTunes! Get it: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/overexposed/id536292140

55th Annual Grammy's: How Did Maroon 5 Do?

Maroon 5 Looses Best Vocal Album & performs at the 55th Grammy Awards show

Before the big telecast of the 55th annual Grammy Awards ceremony, at the Grammy pre-show alternative artist Gotye won the Grammy award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance over pop rock band Maroon 5. The Belgium musician born Wouter De Backer won for his No. 1 platinum single "Somebody That I Used to Know", featuring New Zealand singer and songwriter Kimbra. Maroon 5 was nominated for their No. 2 Hot 100 peaking single "Payphone", featuring rapper Wiz Khalifa, in which was expected to win by many online critics. The Grammy that went to sir Gotye was reportedly his FIRST Grammy award received in the States, so congratulations to him.

Maroon 5 and soul singer Alicia Keys took the stage for a staggering and unbelievably put-together and amazingly soulful performance that blended two of the most antithetic songs on the radio right now. The performance opened by Adam Levine softly singing "Daylight" which escalated in to a full band performance, eventually blending in with Alicia Keys' new single "Girl on Fire", a stunning R&B and big beat soul track from her new album Girl on Fire. As the performance came to a close, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys clammed the chants in both songs together and made a perfect conclusion to their permanence.

After the performance of Maroon 5 and Alicia Keys, the award for Best Pop Vocal album was being announced by American Idol judge and country singer Keith Urban and TV-star Kelly Cuoco. However, it would've been perfect of Maroon 5 to win the category after their live performance, they lost to Idol season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, who took home the award for her album Stronger. It looks like we're going to have to wait until next year for a possible win from Maroon 5 at the 56th annual Grammy Awards. Maybe "Daylight" will be worth the nomination? Maybe A new album will be up grabs? We'll have to see.

James Valentine Talks About Success, The Voice & More

James says 'Overexposed' was the polite title for Maroon 5's new album

Yes, Maroon 5’s James Valentine acknowledges, the title of the band’s fourth album — “Overexposed” — was intended as a jab at frontman Adam Levine, star judge on “The Voice.”

The success comes for an album that’s markedly different from its predecessors. After the chart-topping domination of the 2011 single “Moves Like Jagger,” which teamed the once self-contained Maroon 5 with Christina Aguilera and producers Shellback and Benny Blanco, the group opened its ranks for “Overexposed,” working with an array of other producers and co-writers — which Valentine says was rewarding once the band members wrapped their heads around the idea.

“As a band, of course, we were always reluctant to work with outside writers and we always prided ourselves on doing it as just the band,” says Valentine 34, who co-founded Maroon 5 in 2001 from the ashes of the previous band Kara’s Flowers, with the 2002 debut “Songs About Jane” going four-times platinum. “That served us well on our first three records, I think, but at this point, 10 years in, I think we had to switch it up, and we needed some new inspiration.”

Valentine says the transition was rough at first. “As band members, I think we were a bit territorial, thinking, like, what does this mean for our roles or are we simply fulfilling the prophecy that everyone said from the moment we got on the scene that, oh, Adam’s gonna go solo? Is this just a version of that?” he explains.

'Daylight' Reaches Top 10 on Pop 40

The Lonely Island's "YOLO" debuts & Maroon 5's "Daylight" breaks through Pop 40's top 10

Maroon 5's new single "Daylight" makes the cut for the top ten on the Billboard Pop Songs chart. The single moves up 11-9 on the tally marking the band's ninth entry in the top ten. Frontman Adam Levine's feature in The Lonely Island's single "Y.O.L.O." charted on the Billboard Digital Songs chart this week at No. 13. That marks TLI's third debut on the chart since their "Jack Sparrow" single dropped in 2011.

For Maroon 5's "Daylight", the single moves up 17-14 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. We can expect a top ten entry on the Hot 100 chart later in to February. On other chart notes, the single jumps 11-9 on the Pop Songs chart, as previously noted, jumps 15-12 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, descends a single notch fro 9-10 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart, slides up 12-9 on the Adult Pop Songs chart, entering the Adult Contemporary Songs chart at No. 30, marking the band's third single in its top 30 positions, and falls 10-11 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 singles chart on its tenth week on the tally.

The band's early 2012 Wiz Khalifa-assisted single "Payphone", the single still stands strong on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart's top ten as it hasn't left the tally in over 6 months since it's entry (moving 11-9). This week, "Payphone" stays put at a hefty No. 10.

"One More Night", Maroon 5's previous nine week Billboard Hot 100 chart topper, moves up a space from 18-17 on the Hot 100 after falling last week from 11-18, it's biggest fall the song's history on the chart. On hooter chart notes, "One More Night" falls 19-23 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, doesn't move at No. 10 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart, moves up 20-18 on the On-Demand Songs chart, falls off the top 25 position on the Digital Songs chart, jumps 5-4 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart, falls 16-21 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 singles chart (on it's 33rd week on the tally), and stays put at No. 18 on the Streaming Songs chart. The Streaming Songs chart was recently added earlier this year to the Billboard company to rank the top 20 streaming songs via VEVO, YouTube (ect.)

Over on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, the band's fourth CD, Overexposed falls 26-31 on the chart. the band's 2010 studio album Hands All Over takes a fall from 165-191 on the tally. Last week, the band's debut album, released in 2002, titled Songs About Jane charted, however fell off the top 200 positions this week.

5. "Doin' Dirt" by Maroon 5 (Adam Levine, Johan "Shellback" Karl Schuster) from Overexposed

Kicking off the top 5 sexiest songs in the band's history we thought we'd start out with a new track. "Doin' Dirt" is an electronic and dance heavy produced track written by Adam Levine and music engineer Shellback for the band's fourth CD Overexposed. The song's irresistible guitar-cliques and Adam's crooner-esque angelic voice makes the song that much more sexy already; with lyrics such as "Hold me / we’re dancin’ in the dark of the night / you’re shinin’ like a neon light / I light you up when I get inside" and "So won’t you touch me ‘cuz everybody’s watching us now / we’re puttin’ on a show for the crowd / so turn it up, baby make it loud." It's known to be the sister-track to the band's 2011 No. 1 single "Moves Like Jagger." The tune screams "single" but I suppose we will just have to see. In an interview with Billboard, guitarist James Valentine talked about Maroon 5's new album saying "Our album is extremely more pop than ever and our lyrics are definetaly more mature on this one."

4. "Wake Up Call" by Maroon 5 (Adam Levine, James Valentine) from It Won't Be Soon Before Long

"Wake Up Call" is undeniably one of Maroon 5's most intuitive and sexy song's to have an intense story line such as this one. The single's funk rock and soulful sound brings out the story of a troubled man sexually frustrated in dealing with an untrustworthy and attractive older woman. In the song's music video, directed by Jonus Akerlund, Adam Levine and model-and-actress Kimberly Smith play the couple while Hollywood actor Jeremy Sisto plays the man the women cheats with on Adam's character. "Wake up call / caught you in the morning with another one in my bed" Adam crooned through the chorus of the song.

3. "Give a Little More" by Maroon 5 (Levine, Carmichael, Valentine) from Hands All Over

From the band's third studio album, Hands All Over, comes just one of the many sexy and lovely songs Maroon 5 has written and recorded. And that song is "Give a Little More." The catchy, fast-phased single samples a magnitude of electro rock and funk rock influences, as like any other classic M5 track. Some sexy lyrics include "I’m not fallin’ in love / till I get a little more from you baby, ohoh get a little more from you baby" and "If I have no defense I know you’re gonna get me in the end and I can not pretend I ever wanna feel this way again."

2. "The Sun" by Maroon 5 (Jesse Carmichael, Adam Levine) from Songs About Jane

Songs About Jane's very own "The Sun" may have only been popular throughout Maroon 5's first major tour around the world, but it is a song notably loved by all of the band's biggest fans and followers. The song's sexiest part is when the chorus cuts off in to the bridge and Adam Levine croons "The rhythm of her conversation / the perfection of her creation / the sex she slipped into my coffee / the way she felt when she first saw me." The verse then easily flows in to the next singing "Hate to love and love to hate her like a broken record player / back and forth and here and gone and on and on and on and on" as Adam's vocals ascend in to a perfect high note.

1. "Secret" by Maroon 5 (Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael) from Songs About Jane

And here we have it! The number-one sexiest Maroon 5 song in the books. "Secret." An original Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael partnership piece of music. It stands out completely from the band's debut album Songs About Jane, a few tracks above "The Sun." The song starts out with an seemingly uncomfortable noise than leads in to a more likely un-tuned acoustic guitar and ratchet drums. Doesn't seem sexy to you? Well you'd just have to take a listen for yourself. Adam Levine starts the song out with "Watch the sunrise say your goodbyes off we go / some conversation / no contemplation hit the road." Later, the song takes a toll and heads in to a whirlwind of undeniable vocals sung by Adam: "Cool these engines calm these jets I ask you how hot can it get / and as you wipe off beads of sweat slowly you say I’m not there yet."

There you have it! The top 5 sexiest songs by Maroon 5! We have tapped all of the band's four studio albums. Look out on Valentine's Day for our Top 5 Undeniable Love Songs countdown! See you then..
